What is the charge for a lesson?
My fee is $26 for a 30 minute lesson and $36 for a 45 minute lesson. This is below the rate changed by most Naperville piano teachers. I want music to be available to all who have a desire to learn piano!
Lessons take place in my home studio located at 1234 Rhodes Lane 1n Naperville near the intersection of 75th Street and Plainfield Naperville Road.
Do I need a piano at home?
Your progress will be extremely limited without access to an instrument at home. However, it needn't be a grand piano or upright piano- an electronic keyboard is fine as well. It should have a damper pedal and preferably weighted keys.
Can I play jazz and other forms of music?
Absolutely! Jazz and other popular music is distinctly American music and should be incorporated into your repertoire. I usually assign these pieces in addition to a student's regular music program.
Do I have to perform in front of others?
Lessons are private one-to-one sessions, which let you develop at your own pace and without the pressure of public performance.
However, playing for others is an excellent experience and develops self confidence. I encourage all students to take part in recitals and other public performances, but it is not mandatory.
